Conditie: Climbing

Don't you just love this winter? We neither, so we decided to start off this year with an indoor activity! On Wednesday January 8th we will go wall climbing from 15.30 till 17.00 at the ACLO sports center. The maximum number of participants is twenty. You'll find an enrollment list in the Cover Room to sign up for the activity. Haven't got time to sign up in the Cover Room before Wednesday, or do you have any questions? Actie: Opening Party - Double Trouble

We want to celebrate the new year with all of you! That's why there will be an awesome party themed 'Double Trouble'. This party will all be about duo's. From Donald and Katrien to left and right shoe. So be creative, find a partner and dress up as a famous duo! The ExCie will also be present, showing their movie. You don't want to miss that!

Actie: Traditional Games Night

The first traditional games night of 2014! Of course you can't miss that. Come to café Atlantis to play all sorts of games with us. We'll see you there!

StudCie: Trip To Bremen

Date: Thursday 6 February till Saturday 8 February
Location: Bremen

The StudCie is organizing a trip to Bremen in February! For the low price of €49,95 you will be taken to Bremen (Germany).

First of all you will visit ATLAS ELEKTRONIK, a company specialized in naval warfare. Due to the increase in unmanned vehicles, this company needs CS and AI to create state-of-the-art technology.

The second day we'll visit the university where you get to see what kind of research they do in Computer Science and Artificial Intelligence.

The final day we travel back to Groningen, but before we do we are going to visit the Universum. A wonderful place that explains scientific marvels in a fun and interactive manner.

ExCie: Budapest

Have you always wondered where Rubik's Cubes come from? Are you looking for a week full of fun, universities, companies and more? Join the ExCie this April for a trip to Budapest!

Apart from cheap food and drinks, the nice baths and the state house opera, we'll also visit Prezi, the John von Neumann institute of Informatics and much more.

General Assembly

Last assembly we discussed two topics which could not be settled. Therefore we organize a second, shorter assembly to settle these matters. The topics discussed will be the costs of the cancellation of the symposium and the composition of the KasCie. For more information we refer to a summary of the assembly of the 16th of December which is available together with the other documents on the website. Stafborrel

Date: Wednesday 8 January

Location: Cover Room

We want to draw the attention to the fact that we will organize a 'stafborrel' (social drink for staff and students) on the 8th of January at 5 o' clock in the Cover Room. Therefore we would like to invite you over for this borrel to meet staff members and your fellow students. We will serve some snacks. During this event we are going to organize an activity, so staff members and students will get to know each other in a more social way. The activity will be 'Black Stories'. This is a Cluedo-like game in which you need to use your creativity to solve sinister murder cases.

SNiC: Exa-IT

Date: Wednesday 19 February
Location: Hilversum

The SNiC is an annually organised Dutch Computing Science symposium. This years SNiC has been organised by students from Leiden and will be about the subject of big data, one of the current hot topics in CS research. How does Google show the answer to your search query within a second? During the day, different aspects of big data will be discussed: finance, social media and communication.

Tickets are sold by the Cover board for the price of €7,50 and include lunch, dinner and the bus-trip to Hilversum. Please note that the symposium will be held in Dutch!

Organize Bèta Bedrijvendagen 2015?

Affiliation with directing a board, or would you like some experience? Engineering student and in search of a challenge? Become chairman of the Bèta Bedrijvendagen 2015!

The Bèta Bedrijvendagen are a two-day event in which engineering students get to meet their possible future employers. This year the BBD will take place March 11 and 12 , and companies like IBM, Shell, AkzoNobel and KPN will be represented.

Currently we are looking for a chairman for the Bèta Bedrijvendagen board 2015. As chairman, you will participate in Bèta Bedrijvendagen 2014 to get a feel for the organisation. Afterwards the rest of the board will be composed, and is it possible for you to share and use your experiences with the rest of the Bèta Bedrijvendagen 2015 board.
