Exams are coming

Study Room

During the exam period room BB 5161.0041b (aka, the room next to the Cover Room) will transform into our study room for the entire two weeks of the exam period. It's a quiet space away from the overfull Study Landscape with free tea and coffee available just next door.

Yearbook

Last Monday, we released yearbook 'Stream It', with pieces about several viral youtube video's, popular streaming games, series, and movies! We also have a nice collection of pictures from last years Cover activities including the introductory camp and the MxCee trip to the states! There are still yearbooks left, so come to the Cover room and pick up yours!

Don't forget to sign up for the Member weekend! Do you want a relaxing weekend with games, laughter, drinks and fun? It's time for the 2019 edition of the Member Weekend!

Support Lecture

Having issues with your syntax? Or your semantics? The StudCee is here to provide a support lecture General Linguistics! Here we'll recap the essential topics, and answer your any questions you may have.

The exams are getting close, and what's better during these stressful weeks than to relax and have a beer with your friends? An exam can be done twice, our April social can't!

As always, the first 100 beers will be free.


Board Interest Night

Are you interested in doing a board year at Cover? Are you still unsure or have more questions about it? At the board interest night you have the opportunity to ask questions. Come have a chat with us and have a beer. The setting will be casual, so if you're even slightly interested just come by and have a fun and informative evening!


Nice to know

Landing week: Currently, the Landing Week is a working title for new introductory week next academic year. You can submit your (better) alternative suggestion here. They will take a final decision on Monday April 1st.

PyGrunn: PyGrunn is the largest conference in The Netherlands dedicated to Python and Friends. PyGrunn has always been a special gathering for enthousiasts and for those who wish to share their knowledge and passion about Python and related technologies. Unify: The University plans to combine Progresswww, Ocasys, and the scheduling site, so that all this information will be in one place. This is also an opportunity to make improvements. We, two students at the FSE, are researching which functionalities students would like to see in this combined system. For this, we need your help! Via the survey, you can give your opinion on Progresswww, Ocasys, and the scheduling site, and suggest improvements.

GEBC: The Groningen Engineering Business Center (GEBC) is a center associated to the Faculty of Science and Engineering which primary goal is to introduce students to companies in the North of the Netherlands and vice versa. One of the things we organise is matching of students and companies in internships, graduation projects and/or research projects. We would like to know what a student is looking for when searching for such a project. We would be very grateful if you could fill in this short questionnaire.

College Carrousel: Would you like to introduce high school students to science? Then sign up as a supervisor of the College Carrousel, a large introductory event for students from the 4th grade of high school. The Carrousel College will take place on 2, 3, 4, 9, 10 and 11 April 2019. We are looking for students who want to work all day (9.15-15.15, for €35) and students who want to show groups around in the afternoon (13.00-15.00, for €20). Sign up by filling in this form.

We want you to be in a committee!

A committee is a group of friends that work towards a common goal. You can learn about all sorts of topics such as budgeting, planning, sponsoring, and much more! See the website for a complete overview of committees that are looking for members!


RoomCee: The Cover Room, the beating heart of Cover. The RoomCee keeps this heart beating but always making sure the room is open for a few hours every week. You get to decide how the interior looks as well as being in charge of the Thursday Afternoon Drinks every week.


HEROcee: This is Cover's safest committee. The members of this committee can be asked to perform as an ERO at several activities. If something happens around the Cover Room we can of course also be of help. Apply if you are interested in being a true HERO.


PropaganDee: The PropaganDee is the committee that designs, creates and prints posters for Cover. They assure the quality of Cover's promotion.


Studcee: The StudCee is the committee that provides study related activities for Cover. They give study support lectures for courses in the degree programme, workshops to develop skills as well as managing an exams and summaries database. They have recently created a tutoring system which allows our members to find tutors easily.


I wonder who actually reads the whole newsletter... Anyways, tell us if you like banners and images in the newsletter. Feedback is always welcome.
