Sportee: Ice Skating

Date & time: Wednesday 18th of March, 20:15
Location: Kardinge

Something every Dutch person should like! Ice Skating! Since nature is never on our side, it isn't likely possible to go skating on natural ice this year, so we decided to go indoor at Kardinge. Entree will be 3 euros! If you are an Aclo member, please bring your student card (==Aclo card). Renting skates is at your own cost, so if you have your own, don't forget to bring them! The SporTee will have hot chocolate!

ActiviTee: EDS, eating, pooling and going out!

Date & time: Thursday 19th of March, 18:00

It’s that time of the year, again! At the 19th of March high school students will visit us to experience being a real Artificial Intelligence or Computing Science student. What does that have to do with experienced students? Well, we are gonna show them how a proper student spends the evenings and nights… At 18.00 we meet at Napoli for delicious Italian food culture. Do you want to eat here too? Please send an email to activitee@svcover.nl, so we can make the reservation for you. When were done eating, around 20.00, we will go to Cue Action where we can watch some tv, or, of course, to go pooling! And when we’re eventually done with that, we planned to end the night in the city. You can decide for yourself what time that ends. We’re looking forward to this!

ComExA: TAB Talk: Nerdalize

Date & time: Thursday 26th of March, 17:00
Location: Cache (Cover Room)

“How do you go from idea to company?”

Boaz Leupe, co-founder and CEO of the Groningen-based company Nerdalize, will give a talk during the Thursday Afternoon Borrel. Instead of hosting servers in data centers, Nerdalize hosts servers in people’s homes. This way homeowners get free heating, business save on costs (since the servers don’t neet to be cooled), and we all profit from a lower carbon footprint.

At 16:00, the TAB starts as usual. At 17:00, Boaz will give a 20-minute TAB Talk about what’s involved in going from an idea to a company. After that, the TAB will continue.

TAB Talks are a new concept developed by the ComExA (Committee of External Affairs). During the TAB, we invite interesting companies or PhD'ers to give a short technical talk about their activities. Speakers are invited to stay after their talk, to enjoy a drink and get into discussion with students.

Looking for enthusiasts for working groups

Last week on the general assembly we already announced it: we are looking for people who would like to help us out by being part of one (or more) of the working groups that will focus on the following subjects:

  • The long term plan, a document to help guide our association to awesomeness in the coming years.
  • Our corporate identity (‘huisstijl’), to give Cover a unified look throughout all the different media we use.
  • The translation of documents, so all our members can read all our documents.
  • Internationalisation, because Cover can still do better on involving students from other regions of the world.
  • Fellowships, a new concept for groups of people with shared interests.

Would you like to give your opinion and think with us about (one of) these subjects? Then send us an email at board@svcover.nl, or ask us about it directly!

Topicus lecture by Robert Lindeboom

Date & time: Wednesday 25th of March, 13:00
Location: Bernoulli Borg room 0165

Topicus lecture by Robert Lindeboom, who has studied Artificial Intelligence in Groningen. This lecture will be held in Dutch! Afterwards there will be a free subway lunch!

Of……..?

*Over Robert Lindeboom*
