Movie Night: Er Ist Wieder Da

It has been a while since our last movie night. But this month the Movie Night is back! Just like Adolf Hitler is back in the movie we’ll be watching.

In Er ist wieder da, Adolf Hitler wakes up to find himself in the 21st century. From there he pursues a career as a standup comedian.

We will start watching the movie at 19:00. Beforehand we are ordering pizza (not at Domino’s). Please send the ActiviTee an e-mail with your order or write it on the list in the CACHE before 17:00. The sign-up list will be available a few days in advance.

Symposium: Playing Matters

The annual Cover Symposium will take place next week Thursday (the 12th of May), titled Playing Matters. The location of the symposium is Plaza Danza, in the center of Groningen. This year, there will be four speakers, who will give talks about the technical aspects of gaming.

The topics will be Serious Gaming, Multiplayer Game Design, Technical Issues with Graphics, and AI in Gaming. You can find more information about the speakers and talks by visiting our website.

We will start by having lunch at 12:00, after which we will have talks from 13:00 to 17:00 (with a break in between). We will end the symposium with a borrel. We hope to see you all there! You can register for the symposium here. If you want to take part in the lunch and/or borrel, please register before Monday.

MegaLAN

The MegaLAN will take place again this year. During this fantastic event you can play games with and against members of other FMNS study associations. This year Cover, De Chemische Binding, FMF, Francken and Idun will be participating. We’ll also be competing for the much coveted MegaLAN cup, you can help us to bring it to its rightful home!

EsGALAtie

Mon 16 May, 22:00, Huize Maas

Come to EsGALAtie, the new prom organised by study associations at the RUG! On Monday 16 May, the night after the Pentecost weekend, we’re going to have an epic party together at Huize Maas. Tickets can be bought from the board for just € 22 and include unlimited beer, wine, soda and domestic spirits. You may purchase tickets for external friends. Entrance is 18+. See you at EsGALAtie!

StudCee: Languages and Machines Support Lecturer

The Study Support Committee is looking for a student who is willing to help us out with teaching a support lecture for Languages and Machines (2nd year CS course). During this support lecture, the supporting student is asked to give students an overview of the course material (by for example going through examples of exercises/problems), and help them out with questions they may have concerning the course material.

Did you do well at the Languages and Machines course? Are you willing to help out with a one-time support session of two hours to help students understand the course material? Then you are the person we are looking for! Please send an email to studysupport@svcover.nl.

Looking for Committee Members

👔 SNiC (deadline: 27 May)
SNiC (Stichting Nationaal informatica Congres / National CS Conference Foundation) is a conference for all CS students in the Netherlands. Every year about 400 students attend, making the organizing of this is event quite challenging and a good addition to your CV. See the SNiC website for previous conferences, their topics and their organisers.

✈️ MxCee (deadline: 25 May)
The MxCee organises a trip to a country outside of Europe. Last year an awesome trip to New Zealand was organized! We are now looking for people that are willing to organise a similar trip to a new destination. The trip is aimed to take place in November 2017, which leaves you with ample time to organise the trip and gather the required funding.

💰 AudiCee
Are you an expert when it comes to bookkeeping? Have you been treasurer of an association before? Are you concerned with/interested in the financials of Cover? Help us out and apply for the AudiCee, where you will audit the books of Cover and advise the treasurer!

📚 BookCee (deadline: 21 May)
Did you order your books with us? Then you have already met the BookCee. Finding out what books to put in the webshop and keeping contact with Studystore is what you do as a member of the BookCee. The BookCee offers unique opportunities for contact on professional level with among other things, staff members and companies.

📰 Brainstorm (deadline: 21 May)
Are you creative? Do you want to be an editor? The Brainstorm is our association’s magazine, filled with fun and entertaining content as well as serious articles. Do you have ideas for improving or changing our concept? Gain valuable writing experience outside of academic writing.

🍭 FoodCee (deadline: 21 May)
Do you miss your favorite snack in the CACHE? Join the FoodCee and introduce it! Do you want to determine the brand of beer we drink? Join the FoodCee! The FoodCee orders the snacks and drinks in the Cover Room and drives to Makro every now and then to get some extras.

🎓 StudCee (deadline: 21 May)
Do you like helping fellow students? Are you good at explaining things? The StudCee organises study support for all the AI and CS students. A CS student would really complete their ranks, but anyone is welcome!

🏫 ABCee (deadline: 18 May)
The Academic Broadening Committee organises all sorts of activities — from university visits and small excursions to lectures and tab-talks. Being a member of the ABCee takes 1–2 hours a week and is a great opportunity to broaden your horizons and learn valuable skills.

👩 AphrodiTee (deadline: 18 May)
The AphrodiTee organises activities with a feminine character, like a Dine and Dance, Veni Vidi Vino (wine tasting), and a sushi workshop. Being in the AphrodiTee takes at most 1 hour a week.
