Week review

This week was a very busy and nice week for Cover members. First we had a KPN consultancy workshop, which I personally thought was super awesome and informative! On Tuesday we had a FirstyearCee activity: ZigZag. #childhoodmemories. The weather was amazing, so running throughout Groningen was no punishment, and after that it was perfect weather for a BBQ.

This Thursday we had the Made in Groningen symposium! We had an amazing disco lunch and had some really interesting talks. We learned a lot about comparing products at Belsimpel, discovering vunerabilities with HackerOne, mapping amateur archeologists findings with Geodienst and about sound and AI from SoundAppraisal. The symposium was so amazing even a girl from Amsterdam wanted to visit, but she couldn't attend (DUTCH)

ABCee

The Academic Broadening Committee regularly arranges study-related activities such as lectures, trips to AI- and CS-related companies and institutes, and of course a yearly trip to a city in a foreign country.

Memory

Do you love the Cover Room as much as we do? Show your love and affection by joining the Memory! As a member of the Memory you have a 2-hour shift each week, where you are responsible for the Cover Room. Beside that you get a say in the interior of the room and you organize Thursday Afternoon Borrels(TAB) and some activities.

PubliciTee

Have you seen the awesome posters for Cover activities? They were created by PubliciTee members! The PubliciTee is a creative committee that designs posters and sometimes other promotional material. Do you want to create the next good poster? Join the PubliciTee!

The elections for the University Council, the Faculty Councils and the Service Councils of the University of Groningen (RUG) (students and staff) will be held from 15 May 2017 to 19 May 2017.

Activities

Climbing at Bjoeks

Mon 22 May, 16:00-17:30, Klimcentrum Bjoeks, Kardinge, FB event

Always wondered if climbing would be fun? You probably had plenty of experience as a kid in trees. But now you can test your skills and learn how to climb properly with this introduction class at Bjoeks. The class will start at 16.00 so be ready by then and it will take about an hour and a half. Bring sporting shoes and a (short) sport pants. Best of all this class will only cost you 10€ instead of the normal 15€!

[Career] Inhouse day @ Quintor

This evening we will visit Quintor, a large IT company in the centre of Groningen. There will be a lecture on blockchain technology (the technology used for bitcoins), then we will have a free dinner. Followed by a scrum workshop and we will end with drinks!

Candidate Board Announcement Borrel

It's time for us to announce our successors! On the 30th of May, the new candidate board for 2017-2018 will be announced. So if you're curious to see who is going to lead Cover for a year, you should come! To celebrate this, we also have plenty of free beer.

The borrel starts at 21:30 and we hope to announce the candidate board around 11 pm. So be on time, and let's make it an unforgettable evening!
