Week review

During the Constitutional General Assembly last Monday we officially became the board of Cover. We're the 26th board and our theme is "Sharp". And Wednesday we had our first activity with the Di(e)scover. We had a blind craft beer tasting and a scavenger hunt in the afternoon, the team "The Bold and the beautiful" had both the best time on the scavenger hunt and the best score for the blind beer tasting, racking in the craft beer pack. After that we went over to Wereld burgers to have some great burgers and wedges. Now it was time for some drinks at het gat van Groningen. I really had a great time and I think everybody else had too. Although the results from the blind beer tasting where a bit worse than expected haha. On Thursday we had the TAD-Talk: Atos about text analysis.

Introduction Camp Afterparty!

Monday 25th of September, 22:00 Location: 't Golden Fust - Poelestraat 15, Groningen

After the awesome introduction camp we naturally need an afterparty to look back on this memorable weekend. The proceeds from the auction has reached record heights, so you can count on a lot of free beer, snacks and probably more awesome things! It will be held at 't Golden Fust, so it's nice and central. So if you spend money on the auction make sure to come get your money's worth and if not, come enjoy some free beer anyway!

Pool Night

Everyone survived their first few weeks of lectures, so it's about time that their is a chill night. The ActiviTee has organised a pool night! You don't have to be good at pooling, you can be a beginner or a pro, everyone is welcome!The first one and a half hour of pooling is free, after that it's 1 euro per game.

This activity is not organised by Cover. It is time for Prominent in de Tent again! The party takes places on the 10th of October at Huize Maas. The theme of the party is "Netflix & Pils". Take the chance to become one of the characters from your favourite movie or TV-serie for one night! A pre-sale ticket for this unforgettable party costs €17,50, approach the board if you're interested. For this price you can drink unlimited beer, wine and soda. This year the doors will be open at 22:00 and they close at 00:00. So keep an eye on the time! The party itself continues till 03:00. Hackathon @ Belsimpel

Friday 13th of October 17:30 till Sunday 15th of October 15:00 Location: BelSimpel Groningen - Waagstraat 1

The weekend of 13 to 15 October, starting from Friday, there will be a hackathon hosted by BelSimpel!

The hackathon will take place at the following times: Friday the 13rd from 17:30 to 23:30; Saturday the 14th from 08:30 to 23:30; Sunday the 15th from 08:30 to 15:00, with some more time for a drink afterwards.

Snacks and drinks are free and provided by BelSimpel. During the event, there will also be plenty opportunities to talk to the developers from BelSimpel, as well as play games and generally chill out. The winners will receive a prize!

SNiC: DisruptIT

Wednesday 15th of November, 11:00 till 20:00

DisruptIT is the 11th conference organised by the Stichting Nationaal Informatica Congres, this year study association Cover provides the committee that will organise it and it will be held on the 15th of November.

This year’s theme is Disruptive Technology. Disruptive Technology is technology that displaces an established technology. This will shake up the current industry or is so ground breaking that it creates its own industry. This topic is focussing on current and future technologies that will change the work field of current students. It is hard for students to predict the future of a rapidly changing market. We want to give the students a mind-changing insight into the future.

First Year Study Corner

Every Monday of the first period there will be a first year study corner will be held in the Cover room from 10am until noon. We want to ask older years to join the sessions and help the first years during this time. If you want to help just show up at one of the meetings! Please keep in mind the Cover room will not be open for recreational activities during this time.

Beta business days is looking for a new board member!

While the board of the beta business days have been working hard for a while already, they are looking for a new member to come help them organize these very cool days. The function that opened up is one of the company contact functions. This means you'll be working closely with companies and making connections with possible future employers. All in all it will be a great learning experience and you'll have a lot of fun doing it with your fellow board members. Cover Discord The gamers among us will know what discord is, and it's time to officially launch the Cover discord server! The LANcee will be running the server and there a channels for all committees along with more general channels. There is a lot of chatter going on about games, random memes and other internet stuff. Looking for ComExA members! Are you interested in contacting companies or organizing fun or more serious career-related activities together with our sponsor partners? Then apply for the ComExA! The ComExA (Committee of External Affairs) is the committee supporting the Commissioner of External Affairs. As a member, you will approach new interesting companies related to Computing Science or Artificial Intelligence, establish interesting partnerships for the association and help organize fun, or more formal, activities together with these companies. Are you interested in gaining a lot of useful experience and establish contacts that can help you later in your career? Memory

Do you love the Cover Room as much as we do? Show your love and affection by joining the Memory! As a member of the Memory you have a two hour shift each week, where you are responsible for the Cover Room. Beside that you get a say in the interior of the room and you organize Thursday Afternoon Drinks(TAD) as well as the ThuNDr once a month. Deadline: 22th of September
