Happy new year! Hey all! I hope you all enjoyed your last week of holiday and are ready to start a new year of studying (again). From now on, the Cover Room (Bernoulliborg, 0041a) is open every weekday from 11.00-17.00 again, so feel free to drop by!
JoeJoe,
Marieke
In the first week of September, we do …
With the start of the new academic year, a lot of new first-year students are joining us. Specially dedicated to them, the StudCee has organized the Programming for Dummies and Linux Workshops. These are a great way to get your first programming experience! Next to these study related events, the IntroCee is also on the top of their game this week, organizing a lovely barbecue on Wednesday (Free for all first years! Sign up through this link!) and the Introcamp from Friday till Saturday.
As we’ll need quite some time for catching up with each other, the ActitviTee organizes the Welcome (back) Social on Wednesday right after the barbecue starting at 21.00. Here you can enjoy some free beers, reunite with your friends, show some moves and maybe even end up in the Karaoke-bar! On Thursday, there will be a Thursday Afternoon Drinks (TAD) in the Cover Room where you can relax and get to know even more Cover members! Just come and join us for a chat and a drink! We are in Bernoulliborg 0041a.
This year’s IntroCamp is around the corner and it’s gonna be ZOOper! All first-years are encouraged to join us, so if you haven’t signed up yet you can do that through their website. Are you a senior Cover member and want to help the IntroCee during the camp? Then you can also sign up and experience an amazing camp all over again. Visit introcee.svcover.nl for details and to register!
After the amazing Lustrum Cover celebrated last year, we should definitely not forget about Cover’s birthday this year. Come and join us the 20th of September during the celebration of the Dies! Even though it is still a surprise for you how we’ll celebrate Cover’s birthday this year, we’re certain it’ll be a fun day!
We want you to be in a committee!
A committee is a group of friends that work towards a common goal. You can learn about all sorts of topics such as budgeting, planning, sponsoring, and much more! See the website for a complete overview of committees that are looking for members!
Complaints Committee: The board is looking for people who would like to join the Complaints Committee! Do you feel eager to help resolve conflicts within the association whilst staying as objective as possible? Maybe you'd be interested in joining this committee! If you're interested or have any questions, please send an e-mail to board@svcover.nl.
Language Buddy Committee: This new committee will be all about getting international students familiarized with Groningen and the Dutch culture. The buddies, who are members of this committee, are organizing several events for their international first-year students throughout the first year. Coupled with university-class Dutch lessons for the international students, this will enable first-years to put those freshly-learned Dutch phrases into action together with their buddies. Are you a Dutch student and would you like to show someone around in Groningen? Please consider joining the Language Buddy Committee!
SympoCee: A symposium is a big event consisting of multiple speakers and activities surrounding a topic. Have you enjoyed events like the SNiC or the Career Day? Then, organising a symposium might be just right for you! You will learn many life skills, like how it is to find speakers and how the finances behind a big event like this work, and of course, how it is to work within a group of other students. The SympoCee is the committee that organises this symposium every year.
ExCee: This committee organises a multi-city trip for usually more than a week! Joining this committee means to design and plan for the perfect trip for you and your fellow members. You decide on where to go and how to spend the money. You will experience how it is to work towards an extraordinarily rewarding experience, while making friends on the go. For more information and inspiration check out the website of the previous ExCee (Excursion Committee).
MxCee: Similiarly to the ExCee, the MxCee (Mega Excursion Committee) organises a trip spanning cities, countries and (sometimes) continents! Is organising an ExCee too easy for you? Then you might want to consider joining this committee: a trip that is longer, farther and more expensive!
