Remembering Marco

Hello everyone,

As you all have probably heard, this week one of our beloved teachers, Marco Wiering, passed away. I would first like to say that this news saddens us, and that our thoughts are with his family.

Marco's funeral will take place on Saturday September 18th at 11:00. It is possible for everyone to watch a livestream of the funeral together in the Bernoulliborg. Please make sure to arrive at 10:45, as it will not be possible to enter the building anymore after 11:00.

After the livestream has ended, you are welcome to stay for a cup of coffee. It is also possible to meet the family at eetcafé Texel, Noorderstationstraat 38, Groningen between 13.30 and 16.30. Please make sure to mention that you are there for Marco Wiering.

If you want to send flowers, they can be delivered to Ardante Uitvaartcentrum Groningen, Zuiderweg 191, 9744 AD Groningen.

Please do not feel obligated to attend any of these, but know that everyone is very welcome to attend if you want to be there. I would also like to remind everyone that it is understandable if you are struggeling, and that our accademic advisors are there to help. Please contact them if there is anything you want to talk about!

As a last note, I would like to mention that our symposium, which is happening on Monday the 20th of September, will be dedicated to Marco.

I hope everyone is doing well.

All the best,

Alissa

We want you to be in a committee!

A committee is a group of friends that work towards a common goal. You can learn about all sorts of topics such as budgeting, planning, sponsoring, and much more! See the website for a complete overview of committees that are looking for members!

ExCee: The ExCee has only one task. Together they try to organize an awesome trip within Europe. This trip involves company visits, university visits, and the general opportunity to experience some culture.

LCDee: The LANs, Computers and Drinking committee is the committee responsible for organizing the yearly LAN parties, fun gaming tournaments, and the Crash & Compile, which is a programming competition involving a lot of free beer. Next to that they also moderate the Cover Discord.

ComExA: ComExA stands for Committee of External Affairs. This committee supports the commissioner of external affairs by making and keeping contact with companies. This is important for both the members and the association since Cover needs sponsorship to do all kind of awesome things. In this committee you get the chance to get to know a company and maybe even find a company for a final project or for a job.

Are you interested in joining a committee? Don't hesitate to contact Zoe, our Candidate Commissioner of Internal Affairs!
