So many career events

Hello everyone!

This month will be filled with a bunch of career related events, so get ready to talk to all the businesses and see what the future could have in store for you!

To kick this off, on Tuesday there will be a DUO Inhouse Day! Visit their company with us and get a spectacular view of the city, interactive talks about what DUO does, and have a borrel at the end of the day with a bunch of networking opportunities. We hope to see you there!

On Thursday this year's Cover gala will finally take place! Normally, the yearly gala is a Christmas gala This year it could not take place in December due to Covid, so we postponed it and now it is finally happening. For 18 euros you can get unlimited drinks and a night full of fun, so dust off your fancy gala clothes and join us there!

The day after, on Friday, this year's LAN party will start. It will take place at Belsimpel's office in city centre, and the LAN will be a 24 hour lasting spectacle where you can chill, eat snacks, hang out, and of course play your favourite games!

The last thing I would like to highlight is the Career Day that will take place on the 24th of May. The event consist of lectures and workshops followed by an information market, where you can ask the questions you've always wanted to ask to CS and AI professionals about what you can do after your studies. Get ready for the life after your studies at this exciting day long event!

That was it again for this week! I will see you all in the next newsletter next week!

Hasta la vista,

Alissa

We want you to be in a committee!

A committee is a group of friends that work towards a common goal. You can learn about all sorts of topics such as budgeting, planning, sponsoring, and much more! See the website for a complete overview of committees that are looking for members!

HEROcee: This is Cover's safest committee. The members of this committee can be asked to perform as an ERO at several activities. If something happens around the Cover Room we can of course also be of help.

StudCee: The StudCee is here to provide study support! Either by organizing support lectures, hosting old exams and summaries online, or maintaining an awesome tutoring system, they try to give students that little extra edge on a more personal level, and make sure to have fun in the process.

SporTee: The goal of the SporTee is to keep the members of Cover in shape by organising sporty and fun activities. Things like bouldering, karting, and ice skating are all among the fun activities they have organised!

Are you interested in joining a committee? Don't hesitate to contact Zoe, our Commissioner of Internal Affairs!

Nice to know

GDCB is proud to announce that they have succeeded in creating the Thesis Award Digital Business, in honor of Prof. Aart Bosman.

This award is intended for graduate Master students of the University of Groningen (all faculties) who have written a thesis on a subject related to the field of “Digital Business”. The field of Digital Business is interpreted broadly. The subject can be related to all disciplines within business and management, including accounting, finance, HRM, innovation management, marketing, supply chain and operations. The thesis award was created to stimulate the attention of students in academic education for digital business. With the Digital Business Thesis Award, the GDBC wants to encourage students to choose thesis subjects in the field of digital business and encourage them to contribute to the solutions of digitally related business administration issues. The thesis award is awarded annually. For the Digital Business Thesis Award of a specific year (e.g. 2020), the thesis must be completed and defended in that year (2020). The presentation and announcement will then take place in the spring of the following year (2021). In principle, three theses are nominated. Subsequently, these three students are invited to present their work at the GDBC spring conference in May. Ultimately, there is of course one winner and she / he receives the thesis prize and an amount of 2000 euros. There are also honourable second and third prizes, of 1000 and 500 euros. The three winners will also be given the opportunity from partner NOO to access the NOO platform with knowledge and experience in the field of Digital Business.
