Checkmate

Hello there!

I hope you are well and are enjoying some well deserved days of rest. There hasn't been a whole lot going on lately, but this is going to pick up soon, so buckle in.

IlluminaTee has been busy organising a series of Chess Events for us. In the first event in this series we will join Matthia Sabatelli to learn about the inner workings of Chess Engines.

If this is too theoretical for you, don't worry. We also have a practical lab session coming up. Here you can learn to build a Chess-Bot so you never have to lose in chess again. Sign yourself up for an epic brawl in the online chess-bot competition, and use whatever tactics you dare to win the competition. You will have until February 26th at 15:00 to work on your bot and compete on the live leaderboard. This is organised in collaboration with, you guessed it, our wonderful FCG.

Does chess break your brain (like me) and would you rather go on vacation to try and piece it back together? Have you been dreaming of beautiful beaches? The fresh air on top of a mountain? The history and culture of a vibrant city? ExCee is finally announcing the destination for this years excursion! Join us for the ExCee Announcemend TAD to find out (free drinks may be included).

Join us for an enchanting evening at our Harry Potter Watch Party! Step into the magical world of Hogwarts as we screen your favorite Harry Potter films. Whether you're a Gryffindor, Hufflepuff, Ravenclaw, or Slytherin, all are welcome to celebrate the magic. Grab your wands, don your robes, and let's keep the magic alive. Accio fun!

I'll see you around:)

Auf Wiedersehen, Jellybean!

We want you to be in a committee!

⚠️ Here is a cool thingy for our new members: Ever heard of a committee? A committee is a group of friends that work towards a common goal. You can learn about all sorts of topics such as budgeting, planning, sponsoring, and much more! See the website for a complete overview of committees that are looking for members!

DisCover is the name of Cover's newly revived magazine and of the committee behind it. The committee is responsible for gathering, creating, and editing content, and determining what goes into the magazine. We are going to start with a new edition of DisCover soon, so there is a lot of freedom on how it is going to look like. If that interests you, this is the perfect time to join DisCover!

PhotoCee makes sure that Cover has astonishing pictures from the events that are hosted, be it a simple TAD or monthly social, a sports event, or even the gala. Do you want to practice your skills with the camera? Then this is the committee for you!

Are you interested in joining a committee? Don't hesitate to contact Luca, our Commissioner of Internal Affairs!

Feringa Building

When the name of the building was first announced in March 2014 it was called "Zernikeborg", after Nobel Prize Winner Frits Zernike. Only in November 2016 was the building renamed to the "Feringa Building" we all know it as now. This was in response to the Faculty’s Nobel Prize reception on Friday 18 November 2016, after the Nobel Laureate Ben Feringa.
