Busy Week, Busier Weekend

Hello everyone!

Tabea is on holiday this week, so I'll be taking over for today's newsletter. We have quite a busy week ahead, with mostly social events -- exams are still quite some time away anyways!

First off, SporTee has put together a nice Latin Dance Workshop for us. I hope you're signed up, because it filled up quite quickly!

But worry not, you can let your creative juices flow too with IlluminaTee's AI Art Competition. Even if you suck at drawing, nowadays you can fortunately have a computer do it for you. Try your luck and submit ""your"" creations to have a shot at winning! We'll award some KAST credit to the winner too.

On Wednesday, we're kicking off the Board Interest (BI) period with the Board Interest TAD. Come have a free drink while watching the board struggle to present their position and responsibilities using slides they’ve never seen before. This will be the first event in a series to inform you about the opportunities and responsibilities connected with a board year at Cover, so stay tuned!

Right after that, our lovely ActiviTee will be introducing a new event to Cover: the Centurion! Centurion is essentially a drinking game devised by the Dutch DJ duo Gebroeders Scooter. They mixed together 100 hit songs in 100 minutes. Every minute or so, an air horn goes off, and then you have to take a sip from your drink. Since you’re taking 100 sips in 100 minutes, it can get very fun, so come by and “escaleer” with us!

Finally, from Friday to Sunday, we are at long last having our Members’ Weekend! This is a weekend away for you to hang out and relax with your best Cover friends. We’ll be staying right next to a swimmable lake, so be sure to bring your swimming trunks! We’ve also organized some other activities, check the website for more information on that. Additionally, the theme for this year’s Symposium will be revealed there, so don’t miss it!

Well, that’s all for this week from me. I hope you enjoyed this intermission—Tabea will be back next week to write future newsletters.

With educational greetings,

Richard :)

We want you to be in a committee!

⚠️ Here is a cool thingy for our new members: Ever heard of a committee? A committee is a group of friends that work towards a common goal. You can learn about all sorts of topics such as budgeting, planning, sponsoring, and much more! See the website for a complete overview of committees that are looking for members!

Are you into robotics? Have you worked with Arduinos, Raspberry Pis, or microcontrollers before? The Hardware CommitTee is the committee for you! This is an up-and-coming committee focused on educating our members about topics surrounding hardware, including talks, workshops, and practicals. Join them if you would like to play a part in forming this new committee!

Do you like to code? Alternatively, do you like to watch others code? In October, Cover will be hosting the BeNeLux Algorithmic Programming Competition (BAPC), which is an international competitive coding event. Due to the large size of this event, we are forming a dedicated committee to organize and coordinate it. Join now if you want to seize this rare opportunity for international impact!

Are you interested in joining a committee? Don't hesitate to contact Luca, our Commissioner of Internal Affairs!

Nice to know

MARUG Survey

Our friends at MARUG are currently running a survey to better understand the issues and interests of international students and professionals in the north of the Netherlands. If you want to take a few minutes to help them out, take a look here.

Hydration Check!

Frogs can absorb water through their skin, allowing them to "drink" by simply sitting in water. This unique adaptation helps them stay hydrated without needing to drink water in the conventional way. What a shame we actually need to make an effort for this. Remember to stay hydrated!
