One week later....

Hello everyone, the first week of uni has come and gone. A week packed with introductions, events and courses. To all first years, I hope that you have settled into university by now and are enjoying the student life. To all seniors, I hope that the first week back went very smooth. But most of all, I hope that all of you have enjoyed our introduction activities so far.

As you may know, this weekend we are having our introduction weekend. We are of course hoping to see all of you there. The weekend promises a lot of fun activity and a nice introduction to student culture in Groningen. If you have any questions about the weekend, don't hesitate to contact the IntroCee, that has organised this entrie weekend.

On an important note, there will be another General Assembly (GA) on the 11th of September. A GA is a meeting where general members of Cover can vote on important issues and find out more about the association. This GA we will vote on the changed statutes, which is why it is important that as many people as possible attend this GA. If you have the time to spare, we would be extremely grateful to see you there!

Well, that is it from me this week! Stay tuned for the newsletter next week!

See you at the bbq🍖🍺!

Julian

We want you to be in a committee!

⚠️ Here is a cool thingy for our new members: Ever heard of a committee? A committee is a group of friends that work towards a common goal. You can learn about all sorts of topics such as budgeting, planning, sponsoring, and much more! See the website for a complete overview of committees that are looking for members!

DLCee stands for Drinking and Lan's Committee. The DLCee organises gaming related events ranging from: Gaming tournaments, paintball, laser gaming, LAN parties and more. If you are interested in organising gaming related events, or getting into contact with fellow gamers, then the DLCee is the committee for you!

DisCover is the name of Cover's magazine and of the committee behind it. The committee is responsible for gathering, creating, and editing content, and determining what goes into the magazine. If you are interested in writing or designing the next edition of Cover's yearly magazine, DisCover would be the perfect committee for you

Are you interested in joining a committee? Don't hesitate to contact Luca, our Commissioner of Internal Affairs, or Phillip our Candidate Secretary and Commissioner of Internal Affairs!

Nice to know

Creeper

In 1987 the world's first computer virus appeared, it was nicknamed "Creeper". The intention of this virus was purely scientific, the creators wanted to see how a program could spread through files and computers. If the virus enters your pc, it will give a message saying "I'm the Creeper, catch me if you can!". It will then proceed to duplicate itself untill the pc can no longer function due to memory problems.

Heavy drives

In the modern day and age, we are used to having a lot of storage on a very small drive. You can get drives of multiple terabytes that are smaller than the average phone. This was not always the case. The first 1 gigabyte drive weighed no less than 250kg, which is about the same as a fridge.
